5 Health Check Ups to Get Now

With Winter fast approaching, a lot of people are going to start having some health problems.  The cold weather is just a start, but there’s so much more.  Since people are spending more time indoors, disease is more likely to spread thanks to close contact.  Old bones will hurt.  What you need to do is go and get yourself checked up at the doctor’s office.  We’re here to provide you a handy list of things you should get looked at, so that you can have a thorough check up.

1.  Weight
Make sure to have your weight checked out at the doctor’s office first thing.  Many people are overweight, and with all the holiday festivities coming up, you’re likely going to be swimming in calories.  As nice as it is to have yourself a warm winter coat of blubber, it’s not that healthy.  You can even make your New Year’s Resolution be to lose some pounds.  Your body will thank you.  You will both look and feel better, and your quality of life will go up.
2.  STIs
Sex can be an uncomfortable subject for a lot of people to talk about, and that is rather unfortunate.  It’s a large and important component of most people’s lives, and carries its own set of risks and rewards.  If you’ve had any partners over the last year, for any reason, make sure to get yourself tested for STIs.  There’s nothing to be embarrassed about, and taking the initiative might catch something and end up saving you from pain and suffering at a later date.

3.  Cholesterol
Everyone has a heart.  Not just the one that makes you care about things, but the one pumping blood in your chest every moment of you life.  Your heart health has a lot to do with your cholesterol level.  Three’s a difference between “good” and “bad” cholesterol.  Your body needs a balance of both for it to function at its best.  Keeping a good balance is key to a long, happy, healthy life.  Consult your doctor and see if you need to work on your diet and exercise.
4.  Fitness
Speaking of exercise, you need to do it.  It’s likely you don’t exercise enough, but exercise is absolutely key for your health.  It can range from things like a brisk walk, to jogging around your neighborhood a few times a week, to playing cardio-intense sports a few times a week at your local gym.  It doesn’t especially matter what you do, as long as you’re working out your body.  Consult your doctor and see which areas of exercise you need to start focusing to get your body working right.

5.  Mental Health
This is very, very important.  Mental health is just as important as any other kind of health.  A lot of people find themselves scared or reluctant to talk about mental health, and that’s an attitude that needs to change.  If you find you self feeling tired, or depressed, or unable to concentrate, or ambivalent about major events, just tell your doctor.  They might recommend you to someone else, or point you in the right direction.  Make sure to take care of the you inside you.
