4 Best Things About Christmas Trees

It’s the Christmas season, and it’s about to be wonderful all over the place.  Some parts of the country are getting their first snowfall.  Places like California and Florida are getting their regular sunshine with a slight chill.  Things are pretty much the same in Alaska and Hawaii.  One thing everywhere does have in common is the arrival of the Christmas tree.  This joyful symbol is about to start popping up in homes all over the world, and there are just so many nice things about them.

1.  The Smell
Smell is the sense most powerfully tied to memory.  A brief whiff of something can prompt a memory in even the hardest of heads.  With Christmas tress comes quite a few wonderful smells.  The smell of pine, to remind you of the freshness of winter.  The smell of old decorations coming out of storage, ready to bring smiles again.  The smell of the water and the presents and the wrapping paper.  It’s truly a strong, wonderful feeling that comes back around the Christmas trees.
2.  The Decorations
Decorations are always important for a Christmas tree, otherwise you just have a dead green plant hanging out in your living room.  Decorations can be religious, or cutesy, or homemade.  They adorn the tree from top to bottom, making the branches shine and sparkle.  Every little decoration is a different memory, all tied up into the sense of joy that the holidays bring.  A lovingly decorated tree will really bring any old house up into a warm cozy place to live.

3.  The Gathering
Christmas trees are amazing centerpieces.  We’ve already discussed a few reasons up above, and the fact that they are such an amazing spectacle only seen at this time of year really accentuates that.  If you place a tree in a living room or common room, people will instinctively gather around it.  Conversation will spring up, drinks will be drank, the whole 9 yards.  The person hosting the tree will be regarded as a genius and a poet.  There’s no reason not to get a tree.
4.  The Presents
We all say that the best part of Christmas is the peace, love, kindness, and goodwill toward people.  The family, the friends, the joining of all peoples.  Really, we all know the best part of the holiday season is the amazing gifts.  Everyone from children to adults loves getting presents.  The thing is, without a tree, there’s no place to put presents.  The look silly without a tree covering.  The reason we love Christmas trees is that thy remind us that amazing things are around the corner.

Bonus Terrible Thing:  The Needles
Yeah, pine needles are awful.  At least this other stuff is great.
